I'm BACK - Stay tuned, I've Returned from ALASKA!!!

Just a quick note to let you know that I've returned from my trip to Cordova, Alaska (I got home last night and was sound asleep less than an hour after arriving home). I'm still a bit jet lagged and sleep deprived but anxious to get back to what I do best...COOKING! Once I've recovered and my brain is operating properly...oh, and I've unpacked, you'll find me cooking and posting away again as usual. I can't wait to tell you all about my trip once I've fully recovered. I've never been anywhere before where the sun still shines at midnight! I have so much to share.

Now for the not-so-fun stuff that I must tend to like unpacking, laundry, and paying bills! I've missed you guys. Oh, and what does a "Gourmet Girl" do a little over 12 hours after returning from a week away and 25+ hours of traveling to get back to Atlanta? Why, online shopping for Copper River Salmon, wild Alaskan Halibut, and wild Black Cod, of course (from SenaSea Seafoods)! It will be delivered to my office when I return to work tomorrow. So, stay tuned for more yummy fish recipes in the upcoming weeks ahead. I also have a special new recipe coming this week (a dessert recipe) so stay tuned for that as well. Now...back to the REAL world!   :-)

I'm HOME!!!

We have missed you Ayla. Figured you went somewhere on vacation. SMART to not tell the world until you return. Happy you had a wonderful time. Looking forward to your recipes this week :-)

Hi GGC,

Welcome home! I hope your Alaska Experience was everything you hoped it would be. I'm not on FB so I couldn't comment, but I enjoyed all of your pix very much ... especially that beautiful, glossy moose. It did make me feel a bit homesick, though. :-)

Take your time getting back into the full swing of things. See you soon. It's nice to have you back! :-)

Hi Eileen,

Thank you! Yeah, I told a few people I was going but didn't really want to draw a lot of attention to it or give the specific dates until I was back home! Thanks again! :-)

Hi CyberSis,

Thank you! It was beautiful but I find myself more jet lagged and foggy than I had anticipated. It really has been more difficult coming back east. Even though I'm tired, I can't seem to fall asleep. May just take a Benadryl this evening to see if that knocks me out. :-)

Hi GGC,

Yes, it *is* an exhausting trip, especially since you had to go about as far east as you can possibly go and just about as far south as possible, too! I "only" had to go to Mich ... LOL! Rough enough! I made annual, and sometimes semi-annual, trips for 22 years and would try melatonin upon arrival for a few nights. I had mixed success with it, though. Sometimes it seemed to work pretty well and other times it didn't do much. That old-fashioned remedy, "Tincture of Time," will eventually perform its miraculous cure. In the meantime, rest up and don't sign any important documents! :-)
