Grilled Chipotle Burgers w/ Baby Swiss & Cranberries
This evening I needed to use a package of ground sirloin I had in the fridge. I wanted to keep it simple. Since I had just baked a batch of my Sesame Seed Sandwich Buns last night, it was only natural that I gravitated towards making burgers to enjoy on them. I made simple plain sirloin burgers and seasoned both sides with McCormick's Chipotle & Roasted Garlic Seasoning and then grilled them. I placed the burgers on a bun and topped them with sliced Baby Swiss Cheese and a dollop of...fresh Cranberry Orange Sauce! I decided that whoever created ketchup by sweetening pureed tomatoes obviously must not have had cranberries available, or certainly they would have created a condiment using them instead! It was actually good on the slightly spicy burgers. Even hubby liked the fresh cranberry sauce on his grilled chipotle burger instead of ketchup...and he isn't anywhere near as big a cranberry lover as I am. These burgers will have you singing "Cheeseburgers in Cranberry Paradise." LOL I snapped a couple quick photos for you to see below. I served my burger with a side of fresh avocado sprinkled with sea salt...it was awesome. Enjoy!

i have to chuckle about the addition of cranberry sauce to burgers. last pm i was too tired to cook dinner so i fixed a wrap with turkey/provolone/avocado/bacon…and mayo…thinking that i couldn't possibly use cranberry sauce w/the bacon. then, i reconsidered and added the sauce. it was YUMMMMMM. it has quickly joined my list of GG FAVS!!
Hi GGC:
Haha! This is genius! You know, it seems to me that I read years ago that cooks in "the olden days" (i.e., Colonial times) made ketchup using all sorts of stuff ... cranberries included. So you're in good company, I'd say! :-)
Hi CyberSis,
I had no idea...interesting. Who knows, maybe I was a Pilgrim in a previous life...heeheehee! ;-)
Hi Samudra,
Your wrap sounds awesome...what a great combination you had to begin with, and the addition of cranberries too...that's my kind of wrap. Yummy! :-)
