Tonight's post is a random one. I thought I'd post a few random things that I've picked up in the last week or so to use in the kitchen. I ordered 3 of them from Amazon and the others I picked up at Bed Bath & Beyond. I have also recently been asked to post some of my "finds and deals" that I pick up at Costco regularly since I shop there almost every single week. I have a mental inventory of their regular stock since I go so frequently...LOL...and my eyes always zoom in on the "new stuff" they carry from week to week. This evening, I am going to cook another tri-tip roast in my crock pot overnight for tomorrow's dinner. One of my followers recently told me that she looked for and found a tri-tip at her local grocery store and that it was pricey at $9.99/lb. I couldn't remember what I had paid for mine at Costco, but didn't recall it being that pricey, so when I went back there this weekend, I looked to see how much they were. They were $5.99/lb there -- quite a big difference in price! Of course, I ended up picking up another one since it was such a good deal and because it was a such a delicious roast when I made it a couple of weeks ago. So, while tonight's post really has nothing to do with Costco, I thought I'd share a few of my recent random kitchen finds for you to see below. Enjoy!

I picked up this muffin top pan to make something fabulous...I just haven't figured out what yet! |

I have had many people tell me they love this Paderno slicer gadget...and I found it on an Amazon special for $21 recently (regularly about $30) so I picked one up to try for myself -- I will let you know what I think about it as soon as I try mine out! |

I found these recently at Bed Bath & Beyond -- they are only about 5 inches long -- I got them because they were cute (and useful)...and only about $2.00+ each |

LOVE IT!! Thanks so much for posting. I saw your donuts the other day and thought "I need to get a donut pan!" I use the Paderno Slicer and LOVE IT. Just last night we made your Mozzarella Meatballs and I used the slicer to spiral cut our yellow squash to make noodles. The other night I used one of the other blades to make "ribbon" cuts in a sweet potato I wanted to make baked chips out of.
I also have the little 5" brush like yours, and it is very useful. I use it all the time to brush olive oil on various veggies.
Heading to Amazon now to look at the donut pan. :)

I just have to comment because I, too love Costco!! People make comments all the time that they can't believe how often I go there. When I am in line buying 2 packages of bananas, some ask how can you eat all those bananas? Hmmm, for $1.39 a bunch, it's cheaper and way better for me than those french fries that you buy. The large bag of spinach is about the same price as much smaller bags at the local grocers. I just wish they offered better items at the food court. How about the turkey and pesto on a romaine leaf instead of that large bun? I'm going this weekend to get the roast and throw it in the crock pot. Thanks for all the great ideas!!
I have the muffin top pan and make really tasty flax buns with it. They're quick to make and really bread-like. http://goo.gl/N21O6f
Hi, GG
FYI, the muffin top pan is great for making the protein "buns" or Oopsie Rolls, which we use for hamburger buns. I almost threw mine out at one point but so glad I didn't!
Hi Darlene! I am looking forward to seeing what kinds of things I can make with the muffin top pan -- a number of months ago I actually created some "buns" -- but they were hard to make uniform in size -- if I can find the recipe I wrote, I may try it again. If only you could see how many scraps of paper I have scribble scrabble recipes jotted down on....LOL :-)
Thanks, Kath -- I, too, find that adding flax gives more of a "bread-like" texture to baked goods than just almond flour alone. :-)
Hi Tami Jo! There are certain staples I buy regularly at Costco and other things that change from week to week. I like that they have wild caught fish there, too. Check out my roast that I posted tonight -- I posted before cooking and after cooking pics. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite cuts of roast. Thanks for your kind comments...and it is always nice to find another Costco lover! ;-)
Hi Cindy -- That's good to know another person likes the Paderno Slicer, too. I have been eyeing it for a while and when I saw the abrupt price drop I decided it was time to just go for it. I'm hoping to "test drive" it soon! :-)
