Anyway, what I'm getting to is he raved and raved over tonight's leftover chicken tortellini alfredo meal...even more so than last night....which is a good, not to mention rare, thing in this house. I usually have to re-invent a different meal using leftovers to get that kind of reaction. So, this meal is definitely a "keeper" in our house.
One of the "sweetest" escapes comes in squares...oh yeah! |
Well, one of my resolutions for this year was to start a food/photo blog and I must say that so far, my past month of blogging has been fun. Taking pictures of food and what I cook isn't anything new for me...I've been photographing my food creations and emailing them to family, friends, etc. for a while now. By way of this blog, I don't have to clutter their email with all my "stuff" any more. But, more importantly, I thought this might be a good way to share some of my family's favorite recipes, along with a few family stories sprinkled in along the way. I'd like to think of it as sort of a "family cookbook" that I can leave for my kids so that one day, hopefully many years from now when I am not here, and one of them says or thinks...."remember when Mom used to make_____...", they won't have to go any further than a few clicks on their keyboard and not only will they find the recipes I used throughout the years to feed them and to celebrate holidays together with, but the actual photographs of "their mother's meals", instead of photos taken from a magazine or cookbook. Meals and holidays shared with family, friends and loved ones throughout our lives help weave the memories of childhood and bond us together. Food doesn't just feed our bellies, but it feeds our souls as well....it is part of all our family traditions, it is part of all of our holidays and life's celebrations. Family gatherings are centered around a table where family meals, stories and laughter are shared...it is what bonds us together and what we associate with, as we look forward to and reminisce about holidays, celebrations and all the other important occasions in our lives, both past and present. When someone takes their time to make you a special meal, it is one of the many ways they say "I love you". So with this, I say to my children...."this blog's for you"! :-)
